Wheat sowing has been completed over an area of 8.083 million hectares registering one percent increase in the corresponding period of the last year. However, the area sown is 96 percent of the target of 8.415 million hectares set by the Federal Agriculture Committee (FAC).

According to Punjab Agriculture Department, wheat had so far been sown over an area of 6.303 million hectares, which was 1.0 percent higher than the corresponding period of the last year. However the area sown was 98 percent of the target.

In Sindh wheat sowing has been completed over an area of 0.762 million hectares which is 4.0 percent higher than the corresponding period of the last year and the sown area is 83 percent of the target.

Wheat sowing in NWFP is 0.748 million hectares which is 1.0 percent less than the pervious year.

In Balochistan wheat sowing is over an area 0.270 million hectares which is 2.0 percent higher than the corresponding year and it is 78 percent of the target.
